Open Excavation at Holstebro Museum

Get up close to the excavation of a 2,000-year-old clay pot. Free for all.

Join an archaeologist from Holstebro Museum as they excavate a 2,000-year-old clay pot.

The pot is still unexcavated and stands just as it was placed in an Iron Age grave 2,000 years ago.

We don’t yet know what surprises might be hidden at the bottom of the pot, or what stories it can reveal about the person buried and the society of the time.

What we do know is this: you could be among the very first in 2,000 years to see what an Iron Age person was buried with.

Participation in the excavation is free and takes place outdoors in the museum garden.

Please note: admission to the museum’s exhibitions is not included.
