Atelier in Ørding – Nature and Art

Behind the atelier in Ørding is Lis, who graduated from the Design School in Kolding and Aarhus Art Academy in 1995 and 2002. She works with printmaking, mixed media, and parchment made from animal hides.

Artistic statement: Lis is fascinated by the hidden, the unexpected, and the forgotten. She explores the experiences and objects we encounter by chance, what lies beneath the surface, the stories behind immediate impressions, and what appears when we take a closer look. She is also deeply interested in materials, their aesthetics, and communicating the sensory story of the material itself.

Lis works in an exploratory and experimental way with materials such as cardboard, plaster, animal hides, plants, animal fragments, and found objects. Her methods span photography, printmaking, and mixed media using colour pigments, watercolour, acrylic, and pencil on paper, canvas, and parchment.
