Baulehus – Cultural heritage and rural charm in Salling
Baulehus is a historic four-winged farm dating back to 1840. Visitors can explore a private museum showcasing farming culture, enjoy a large and diverse garden, and relax in cozy seating areas – all set in the scenic Danish countryside.
Baulehus is an old four-winged farm dating back to around 1840, although most of the buildings are of more recent origin.
We are located in a lovely and peaceful rural area – yet close to everything. We have owned the farm since 1968, and it has been run as a family property with diverse farming – now only crop production.
After we stopped keeping animals, we cleared and cleaned all the outbuildings – this is where our museum is now located. We both come from old farming families here in Salling.
Many of the exhibited items are inherited from our parents and grandparents. Other objects have been donated from other properties in Salling. A few items also come from Mors. With our museum, we aim to showcase the farming culture as it was from 1930 onwards. That farming culture ends with our generation, and we want to preserve our cultural heritage.
The garden covers approx. 4,500 m² and is divided into several sections. The old garden, surrounding the main house, is the original one. Then there is a rhododendron section and a newer section, started in 2011, located behind the old barn. There are many different plants in all parts of the garden – such as roses, rhododendrons, perennials, evergreens, and berry bushes. There are many cozy spots with tables and chairs – in other words, a garden in constant change.
In the barn, we have also arranged many seating areas, which guests are welcome to use – either with their own picnic basket or by purchasing coffee and homemade cake during their visit.
We are open by appointment.
