Water Sculpture in Skive – art and history in bronze and copper
Skive’s water sculpture is a 3-meter tall artwork made of bronze and copper, created by Mogens Møller in 1984. Inspired by the municipal seal, it was funded by the Danish Arts Foundation and anniversary donations. Water flows gently in a spiral, symbolizing the cycle of life.
Water Sculpture – Skive Fountain
The water sculpture is made of bronze and copper and stands approximately 3 meters tall. It was commissioned in 1983 by the Danish Arts Foundation and Skive Municipality from sculptor Mogens Møller, and completed in 1984 with financial support from the foundation and donations given in connection with Skive’s 650th market town anniversary in 1976.
With this work, the sculptor aimed to connect his art to Skive Municipality in various ways. The main motif incorporates elements from the municipality’s seal. The upper spiral-shaped part of the sculpture is made of bronze, while the lower part is made of copper.
The sculpture stands just over 3 meters tall. Water gently seeps and drips from a basin at the top of the figure, spiraling down into the middle basin and then into the lower one. From there, it is pumped back to the top, where it flows from the mouths of two trout into the upper basin again.
