Fousing Church - Struer
Fousing Church is a perfect stop for those interested in art, culture, or quiet reflection in beautiful, historic surroundings.
St. Catherine’s Church – Peace and Beauty near Klosterheden Close to the scenic Klosterheden Forest lies a small Romanesque ashlar stone church from around 1200, dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria. The church features a low tower with an externally operated bell, reflecting a simple and practical architectural style that harmonizes with the surrounding landscape.
In the choir, you’ll find a rare Late Gothic altarpiece with sculpted figures – a medieval treasure that adds depth and presence to the space. The church was restored in 1986–87, and in 2005, a bricked-up window in the north wall of the choir was reopened and fitted with a glass mosaic by church artist Bodil Kaalund, adding colour and light to the modest interior.
