Experiences along the route

Branden – Fur Havn

Start the trip with the ferry to Fur, where the UNESCO bus runs every hour. From the harbour to Knudeklint is approximately 7 km on foot, with the option to shorten the walk by getting off at the first stop at...

Gl. Havn

Get off here and walk the beautiful coastal path towards Knudeklint. The walk is approximately 4 km and offers fantastic views over the Limfjord and the moler cliffs.

Fur Bryghus

The nearest bus stop to Knudeklint. From here it is just 800 metres to the World Heritage site. The brewery is also an ideal place to enjoy lunch or refreshments.

Knudeklint

Experience the exceptional geology that has earned Fur a place on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Here you can get up close to the 55 million-year-old layers of moler and volcanic ash that tell the story of the development of life after the age of the dinosaurs.

Fur Camping

An ideal place for a refreshment and to continue by bus.
From both Knudeklint and the brewery, walking trails lead on to Fur Camping. From the brewery it is 1.6 km and from Knudeklint 1.7 km to the campsite.

Bette Jens' Hyw

One of Fur's finest viewpoints with a panorama over the island and the Limfjord. From here it is only about 500 metres down to the Fur Museum's Fossil Camp at the bottom of a moler pit.

Fossil Camp

Try your luck as a fossil hunter. Guided fossil hunts are arranged every day at 14.00, where both children and adults can search for traces of the 55 million-year-old sea. See the Fur Museum's website for more details.

Café på Herrens Mark

An ideal place to take a break with coffee, lunch or an ice cream before continuing.

Fur Museum

Round off the visit at Fur Museum, where you can experience the world-famous fossils – fish, birds, insects and plants – and learn the story of why Knudeklint and Hanklit have been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
From the museum it is approximately 1.5 km back to the harbour along the path with views over the Limfjord. You can also choose to take the last round with the UNESCO bus.
Take the bus to the places you want to experience and walk the stretches that suit you best. Whether you are drawn to sweeping views, world-class geology, fossil hunting or pleasant breaks along the way, the route offers the chance to experience the best of the new World Heritage site.
