Fur- Skive’s hidden gems

Shaped by ice age, sea and people
– a place you can truly feel

Fur – the island of nature and stories in the Limfjord

Fur is an island in constant motion – shaped over millennia by natural forces and human activity. Located in the heart of the Limfjord, with views towards Salling, Mors and Livø, around 750 residents live in a landscape that is as vibrant as it is spectacular. Here, the pace slows down, and experiences unfold at eye level.

Nature on Fur is truly unique. In the south, flat and open coastal meadows stretch out, while the northern part of the island rises into a dramatic Ice Age landscape with hills, valleys and deep moler clay pits. Along the coast, the spectacular cliffs of Knudeklinterne reach towards the sky, and the protected hilly terrain bears witness to a landscape so unique that it has been preserved for future generations.

The island invites you to explore both nature and history on foot. Walk towards Knuden, experience the silence at Engelstør Odde, or follow the paths past Gammelgård, where landscape and culture merge. Along the way, views open up, calm settles in, and the feeling of island life reveals itself step by step.

After a day of exploration, round off your visit with local flavours at Fur Brewery – a natural gathering place where the island’s story continues to be told.
