Klosterheden Woods
Klosterheden is Denmark’s largest planted forest and the first place in the country where beavers were reintroduced.
There are many remnants from World War II. Among them is a hidden airfield used by the Germans, a Hungarian camp where Hungarian troops stayed during the final part of the war, as well as ammunition depots from the German Wehrmacht and bunkers. The hospital bunker west of Lemvig Airfield was opened to the public in 1995.
A forest playground has been established near the Hungarian camp, which is frequently used by kindergartens and similar groups. There is also a dog forest where dogs are allowed to run freely.
Additionally, there are hiking and cycling routes (brochure available), a nature trail, riding paths, and ski trails. A brochure about "Rom Airfield" from 1940–45 is available at the Struer Tourist Office.
Shelters are available for free use at Resenborg Plantation and Møborg Forest. A bonfire site and wood shed at Møllesøen are also freely accessible. Visits to the Nature School Kjærgaardsmølle are possible. Contact: Peter Gammelmark Thing at phone number 2013 6727.
