Taste mussels and snaps at the start of the season in Muslingebyen

The season in Muslingebyen kicks off with a spectacular festival on the first Saturday of April – an experience that truly marks the beginning of the mussel season at the Limfjord.

The year's first mussel harvest is brought ashore, approved by the town elders, transported through town by horse-drawn carriage, before the town's skilled chefs prepare the fresh shellfish.

The mussels are then served – completely free of charge – to the town's guests, along with a snaps for good spirits.

The festival unfolds from the harbour and down through the town's cosy main street, filling the streets with life and festive atmosphere. The whole event takes place between 11:00 and 15:00.
