Gable murals i Åsted
Walking Tour in Åsted – Art and Community on the Walls
Take a walk through Åsted and discover vibrant gable murals created by local residents in collaboration with Danish and international artists. A public art project that tells the story of the town through imagery.
Take a city walk in Åsted and discover the beautiful gable murals throughout the town.
Åsted was once a struggling village in Fursund, known mainly for its dilapidated houses and a diverse group of residents.
To revitalize the area, the citizens decided to invite a group of Danish and international artists to a three-week symposium. The artists were invited to create art in the public space.
The murals on the gables were painted by the residents themselves. The images are based on a local archive of Åsted’s past and present, collected in collaboration with Irish artist Deidre O’Mahony.
