Rural campsite: The excavation - Jegindø

Discover Denmark’s nature campsites – simple and scenic places to stay overnight, often with shelters, fire pits, and access to toilets and water. Ideal for hikers, cyclists, and nature lovers.

The Excavation on Jegindø is a peaceful and unique nature site, perfect for both relaxation and outdoor activities. Surrounded by trees and dramatic slopes, the area offers a tranquil atmosphere close to nature.

There’s a small football field area for casual games and play, a covered dining table (approx. 10 m²) for cozy meals, and a spacious shelter (approx. 20 m²) ideal for overnight stays in the open air.

Facilities include a handicap-accessible toilet and a parking area, making the site accessible to all. A sandy beach is just 300 meters away, and showers are available about 3 km away at Jegindø Harbour.

Directions:
Drive across the causeway from Thyholm to Jegindø. About 300 meters after the causeway, turn right at the blue parking sign – the site is located there. It can also be reached by canoe or dinghy, making it a great stop on a hiking or boating trip.
