Lyby-Grønning - Skive’s hidden gems
Railway town, beach life and art in the landscape
– where nature and stories are woven together
Lyby–Grønning – green trails and fjord views
Lyby is a former railway town shaped by the history of the Salling Railway. Today, the line lives on as the Salling Nature Trail, winding from Skive to Glyngøre and making Lyby a natural stop for cyclists and hikers.
East of Lyby lies the summer house area of Lybystrand, with a bathing beach, jetty and relaxed holiday atmosphere close to the water. Here you can enjoy food, ice cream and refreshments at the café overlooking Skive Fjord – a place where time seems to slow down.
Grønning is a village divided into Vester and Øster Grønning. Øster Grønning enjoys beautiful fjord views, and further out you will find the summer house areas at Astrup Vig and the protected Grønningøre, offering coastal meadows, forest, a bathing beach and simple camping facilities with water, fire pits and tent sites. Between Vester and Øster Grønning stand the assembly hall and the church – a natural gathering point for the village.
Art and culture are close at hand. Jenle offers scenic walks and guided tours during the summer months, and in Vester Grønning you can visit an artist-run gallery with more than 20 exhibiting artists. The church between Vester and Øster Grønning dates back to the Romanesque period and houses a rare baptismal font from the 12th century.
Nature and trails are Grønning’s greatest assets. Fields, beaches and forests lie close by, and with upcoming coastal routes such as the Blue Walk – the Low Tide Route – new experiences along the water are opening up. You can also explore the hiking routes at Grønningøre and along the Salling Nature Trail. Along the way, you may encounter local landmarks such as the Ring Rampart “Ridebanen” and Tarok’s Burial Mound.
