Selde-Branden- Skive’s hidden gems

Fjord, streams and creative traces in the landscape
– an atmospheric corner of the Fursund area

Selde–Branden – water, art and vibrant villages

Selde and Branden are part of the Fursund area in northern Salling, where water is ever-present. The Limfjord surrounds the landscape, inviting swimming, fishing and water sports, while Hinnerup Stream winds calmly through the area, offering canoe and kayak trips at a gentle pace.

Nature here is rich and varied. The lakes Grynderup, Elkær and Brokholm together form a true nature haven with fascinating – and at times rare – bird species. There is space for reflection as well as curious encounters with wildlife.

Selde–Branden is also a place where art and community leave a clear mark. Small associations and local initiatives bring life through art, culture and creative projects – from outdoor sculptures to performances, music and storytelling. As you move through the villages, you can sense how art is naturally woven into everyday life and the landscape.

A particularly colourful element of the area is the Cirkusfabrikken (Circus Factory). Here, space is created for creative expression, play and performing arts, where both children and adults can experience the world of circus up close. The Circus Factory functions as a creative workshop and gathering place, where acrobatics, movement and imagination become part of everyday life – contributing to the lively and artistic atmosphere that characterises Selde–Branden and the entire Fursund area.

Explore Emilieshøjene and the grafting garden, or follow the Selde Lake and Art Route, where walking trails connect nature, art and local stories. Here, experiences go hand in hand – step by step.
