As part of Skive’s 700-year anniversary celebrations, this year’s Bishop’s Market will be bigger than ever before. Visitors can look forward to more activities, more atmosphere, and even more medieval experiences, with traditional crafts, market stalls, entertainers, performances, and delicious food experiences throughout the market area.
Discover what life was like in Skive and the surrounding region 700 years ago and learn how people lived through the final centuries of the Middle Ages.
Excitement and drama await as knights and warriors take over the castle grounds. Throughout the week, visitors can experience knightly tournaments, combat demonstrations, and a spectacular re-enactment of the Battle of Sankt Jørgens Berg, bringing medieval warfare, tactics, and strength vividly to life.
Falconry displays, folk music, storytelling, jesters, and archery are also part of the week's programme.
World Championship in Medieval Combat
One of the week's biggest highlights is the World Championship in Medieval Combat, taking place at Spøttrup Castle from Thursday to Sunday during Week 30.
More than 1,000 fully equipped fighters from 28 countries will compete in intense battles wearing full armour. These contests demand not only strength but also skill, endurance, and determination.
Visitors can experience the action up close as armour clashes, weapons strike, and the battle for victory unfolds against the dramatic backdrop of the castle's historic walls.
